Kanaka Sathasivan Kanaka Sathasivan is a first year M.P.H. student at Rollins. She recieved her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin, where she also worked as a tutor at the Undergraduate Writing Center. In her small hiatus from student life, she did contract writing, wrote film reviews, and also taught a creative writing course with Badgerdog Literary Publishing. She is also an avid dancer and just resigned from her position as assistant director of the Natyalaya School of Dance after teaching there for the past ten years. Currently, Kanaka is aspiring to become a public health educator. Her areas of interest include health literacy, health promotion, and public health in the media. On the English side, she is facinated by religious allusions in works of art, whether it be literature, television, or film. She believes that the form of the story is secondary to the narrative and its message, and she enjoys the different ways in which various media utilize written and visual elements to tell a story.
