My favorite book is the graphic novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. I first read this book in high school and have read it for several college courses since. With every read through I am forced to interpret the text through a new lens and each time I get something new out of the experience. Persepolis has also taken on new meaning as I have evolved and become more involved in refugee resettlement efforts in Atlanta. What is your favorite word? Ephemeral Describe a significant breakthrough in your development as a writer. In high school, I had lots of anxiety surrounding the length of my papers. I felt that, after about ten pages, my essays would become too wordy and repetitive. During my freshman seminar, however, I was tasked with writing a 20-page creative paper. The process of writing that paper lead me to totally reinvent the way that I prewrote and taught me to write in streams of consciousness. That single assignment reinvigorated my passion for writing. |
