Jennefer F. Callaghan

Jen Callaghan received an A.B. in English from Princeton University. Her senior thesis was a book of poetry, Warehouse, which centered on the theme of memory. She still occasionally writes poems, but these days is more likely to be working on creative nonfiction, letters to friends, or her dissertation. Jen is currently finishing her Ph.D. in the Department of English at Emory. Her project explores questions of reading and representation in supernatural fiction written by American literary realists William Dean Howells, Henry James, and Sarah Orne Jewett. In addition to teaching at Emory, Jen has taught composition courses at George Mason University.

Jen believes that talking about your writing results in better writing, and also that talking about how you teach writing results in better teaching. She enjoys discussing all things writing related, particularly process, designing effective assignments, writing assessment, and writing across the curriculum. Her most recent interest is the intersection of writing center pedagogy and TESL.
